Welcome to our Wedding in India

Venue: The venue is going to be : Alsisar Mahal Shekhawati, a beautiful heritage site built in 1577 (pic below). Please feel free to read about it in the link here. We're excitedly looking forward to celebrating our wedding there and creating some beautiful memories together. We will reserve the rooms for your stay there as well, the room cost is 100 CHF per day for 2 people including breakfast + taxes (we will check in for 2 nights, 11 - 13th October). Please discuss with Keshav if you have any concerns about this.

Transportation Booking: We would like to let you know now's the good time to start booking flight tickets to Delhi, before they increase. Current best we saw was 500 CHF round trip from Zurich to Delhi with Air India. We want to remind you need to be there at Delhi by 10th October night or 11th October early morning ( before 7 am ), because we will have bus from Delhi Leaving at around 10 am, so that we stop for lunch and reach Alsisar Mahal at around 3 pm. Once there, we check in, and the events begin ( more in next update)

Whatsapp group: We will make a whatsapp group for everyone to communicate easily, plan travels together, if you would like not to be added to the whatsapp group, please inform Keshav about it.

Visa to India: Please apply for e-visa to travel to India, it takes around 1 week to be approved, but always better to do it before hand :) .

Dancing: We are now planning to have a group dance instructor online, who will help us plan the bride's side, the groom's side and both sides dance! Of course this is not a must, but highly recommended to join in, so that you get the most of indian wedding.

Indian outfits for the wedding: We will be scouting great local indian outfit designers in our wedding finalizing trip to India, and we will share that with you guys, so you can send your measurements and design choices to that person, and pick up the dresses as you reach Delhi and make payments when you pick up.

Preparing your travelling plans: We highly recommend you to get a copy of Guide du Routard, because they have incredibly well detailed outline of India, places to see, to do's and not to do's, where to eat and where not to eat. They're releasing new version on 15 May, but doesn't hurt to pre-order now, they sold out previous ones, Celine is having hard time finding these for the family :) Our recommended itinerary that we crafted with passion is also here ! ;)

Preparing your stomach for India: Keshav would highly recommend you to start having these probiotics (Keshav personally vouches for these ones!) 1 month before going to India, so you can enjoy stress-free eating. Please refer to the following research paper to fully understand the importance of this in helping you have the perfect, stomach-flu-free holidays.

Medical Vaccination: Please talk to your doctor, you might need to take Typhoid Vaccine and / or malaria pills for prevention, and the doctor might recommend you more. For specifications: we will go to North India, states of Delhi and Rajasthan.

Travel Information
Please find below travel information. We are giving an airplane suggestion, telling you more about how to get to the wedding venue and giving some information about the accomodation during the wedding. To make your life even easier, we have put together a two-weeks itinerary that you can follow to make the most out of your journey to India!

Airplane
We suggest arriving two or three days before, i.e October 8-9th, to relax a couple of nights in New Dehli and recuperate from the jet lag before getting picked up on 11th morning to start the celebration. Based on a two-week vacation departing on October 8th 2024 and returning on October 22nd, my investigation (on 05/12/23) reveals the following good options:

Direct Zurich-New Dehli with Swiss for 835CHF

Zurich-New Dehli with 1 stop for 683CHF with Finnair (Helsinki is my favorite airport =) )

Zurich-New Dehli with 1 stop for 604CHF with British Airways

Geneva-New Dehli with 1 stop for 559CHF with Swiss.

The cheapest I've found is Milano-New Dehli with 1 stop for 488CHF.

Accomodation
Please plan to spend both October 11th and 12th nights at the wedding venue, meaning that you're free to start your own adventures from Sunday October 13th morning. Moreover, we are expecting a bunch of people to show up, hence, it would be of great help if you can share a room with 1 or 2 other guests in case you're traveling on your own. We will update the actual venue with the room capacities when it's finalized here. Please help us by indicating that you agree to share a room in the google form. Thanks for your cooperation :)

Tuk Tuk adventure
Get adventurous with us and ride your own Tuk Tuk! As part of the effort of making our wedding a fun traveling experiencing, we are excited to propose to join on one last adventure after the wedding by driving your own Tuk Tuk ! :D The first destination in our Indian itinerary is Jaipur, so we propose to drive together to Jaipur on October 13th the day after the wedding. Two local guides will lead the pack through the roads of Rajasthan. Three people including the driver can fit in one Tuk Tuk. To get inspired, check the website of the company that rents the Tuk Tuk. Note that we are not 100% sure to run this event as it will depend on how many folks are excited about it and if the organization works out. Hence, please share with us your excitement or your doubts about this adventure. We left a dedicated comment section in the form.

To the wedding venue
We give you two options to come to the wedding venue, please indicate in the form which option would you prefer. If you don't know yet whether you will travel in India before the wedding, we also give you the option of "I don't know yet":

Join the organised bus from Dehli. We will organise a bus to pick up the guests from New Dehli on October 11th morning and go together to the wedding venue in the north-east of Rajasthan. The wedding venue will be a palace situated in a semi-rural area of Rajasthan 4-5h from Dehli.

Come by your own mean. Maybe you will already be in India in which case you might come from another destination than Dehli.

Itinerary across India
While you travel to India, you might as well make full use of the trip and explore the richness of the landscape and the culture of India! To help you enjoy it to the fullest, we have put together a two-week itinerary that explores the major destinations within Rajasthan and its neighbors. This itinerary is largely based on our own trip to Rajasthan in Spring 2022, so most of what we recommend is Keshav and Céline tested and approved ahahah.
